Here’s an easy recipe to turn Nutiva Coconut Manna into a delicious and healthy coconut milk which can be used in all recipes calling for coconut milk. Hey look, no more cans!
Recipe type: Beverage
Serves: 1
  • Nutiva Organic Coconut Manna™
  • Water
  1. First, put a sauce pan of water on your oven’s burner with enough water to half submerge your jar of manna and bring to a very low simmer. Stir the manna until it is a nice, even, runny consistency. (You can skip this step if it’s summer and your manna is already liquid…..just stir and measure as below)
  2. NOTE: Be careful when heating up your Coconut Manna on the stovetop. The idea is to warm it up enough to be able to mix and soften the Manna. Be careful not to cook the manna!
  3. For lite coconut milk: Add ¼ cup Manna and 1 Cup of water to a blender and blend on medium speed for 5 to 10 seconds until mixed.
  4. For a richer coconut milk: use ⅓ cup Manna to 1 Cup of water.
  5. Both of these milks are delicious and can be used as is.
  6. For a smoother, silkier texture strain the Manna milk through a very fine sieve. A nylon nut milk bag works very well for this.
  7. You can also add a little sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar) and some cacao powder or perhaps vanilla. Yum!
  8. Or use the richer coconut milk as a nondairy creamer for coffee or tea. Use the coconut milk in soups, smoothies, over grains……..wherever coconut milk is desired.
  9. It’s delicious in winter squash soups or try in a beet borsht instead of sour cream or on steamed veggies.
  10. You can store the manna milk in the fridge for a day or two after making. It will thicken a bit in the cold but is still exquisite.

I have a recipe for smoothie from foodbabe that needs a 1 cup of coconut milk, instead of making milk of of my nutiva coconut mana, can I use instead 2 Tbsp of the mana? Karen.

    • Team Nutiva says

Hi Karen – Yes, you should be able to instead just use 2 Tbsp of the Organic Coconut Manna. Do keep in mind, though, that your smoothie will be *less* liquid and have an added thickness to it. Let us know if you try it!

hello! I’ve started making matcha green tea lattes using coconut milk. The cartons are full of chemicals, so I would like to try using this manna I just purchased! Do I need to actually follow your recipe to make the milk, or can I add water, manna, and matcha all to the blender and blend as is? Or would it turn out different/better to go through the process of making the milk? Thank you!!!!!

    • Team Nutiva says

Hi Judy – First off, congrats on making your own. We think you’re going to prefer it! Second, you could always follow our directions and then add your extras to it to ensure consistency. Let us know how it works:)

I love this and make a big batch every few days. I use a whole jar with 3 1/2 jars of filtered water in the blender and store it for up to 5 days. I learned about this from Vani Hari – aka Food Babe and I never buy commercial cartons of coconut milk anymore. This is so much yummier and healthier too! Great way to get the good fats from coconut. As suggested by Food Babe I heat it up and add some cinnamon and organic maple syrup and it’s a delicious drink or dessert! Mmmmm!
