I don’t know about you, but I’m about over this winter. Don’t get me wrong, the rain in Northern California has been a blessing, especially because of the drought, but this Florida flower needs a little sunshine and warmth! Ya feel me? Just the sight of the bright and golden acacias (early) blooming got me all excited at the prospect of spring! We’ve come up with a warming Coconut Ginger Golden Milk that will become your new favorite drink.
One of our favorite winter warming elixirs keeps making an appearance in our herbal kitchens year after year. Golden milk is a drink anyone can love. It’s got all the right stuff— warmth, creaminess, comfort and it’s literally golden! Best of all, you can sneak your favorite adaptogens like ashwagandha, shatavari or even tulsi into your brew. The combinations of herbs and spices are endless so our go-to drink will never get boring.
We teamed up with one of our favorite organic superfoods brands, Nutiva, to create a dairy free version full of healthy coconut fat. Whether you need warm mug in the morning or an evening soother, our Coconut Ginger Golden Milk is sure to do the trick.
Coconut Ginger Golden Milk
- In a small saucepan, warm all of the ingredients. Pour into your favorite tea bowl and whisk until everything is combined. Another quick option would be to add all the warmed ingredients to blender for 30 seconds. Once your brew is nice and frothy, adjust the sweetness to your liking and enjoy! Makes 1 serving.
About the Authors: The Great Kosmic Kitchen
Sarah and Summer first met in college, where they laid the foundation for The University of Central Florida’s very first community garden. After being introduced to the world of plants, they both set out on journeys to deepen this connection. Together they studied permaculture at The Regenerative Design Institute in Bolinas, California and Herbalism at The Florida School of Holistic Living in Orlando, Florida. Summer then ventured to Vermont to apprentice with Rosemary Gladstar, which led her to study at The California School of Herbal Studies in 2013. During this time Sarah interned at Herb Pharm in Oregon, apprenticed at Tassajara’s Zen Kitchen, and then went on to study Amazonian plants in the Peruvian jungle.
Currently, they both live in Northern California and are continuing to deepen their studies with the Ayurvedic Clinical Foundations program at the Dhyana Center in Sebastopol. In gratitude for these immersive experiences, Sarah and Summer share the wisdom they learn along the way.
